do a study on nebulae. They are very easy to explain, and ofter offer up some of the most breathtaking pictures captured of space.
for example, look at this picture: http://www.universetoday.com/am/uploads/2006-0111orion-full.jpg
that is the orion nebula. it is the highest-resolution image ever taken of a nebula. Very pleasing to the eyes, too.

I'm not sure if your "stuff in space" means material things, but a report on an early discover that helped astronomy later might make an interesting report.
Remember when a car goes by blowing its horn, the sound changes? As the sound comes towards you, then away from you the sound changes: First the pitch is high, then lower.
This was discovered by an Austrian, Christian Doppler. He conducted these sound experiments with individuals using musical horns, holding a single note as they went by. The sound coming is short, going away the waves are long.
This same "Doppler Shift" applies to light. Looking at an object that is moving away from them has a longer wavelength than it had when it was first emitted (a redshift), while observers looking at an approaching light see the shorter wavelength (a blueshift).
Since we all hear these sound changes, car horns, airplanes overhead, etc. all of us can hear Doppler's work without conducting any experiment. Hence, we can easily hear for ourselves and understand. Some easy to understand pictorials of these waves will make a nice report addition.

just an idea, research all the trash that is in space. By "trash" i mean all the discarded/damaged satellites and actual trash. im not positive but i would be willing to bet there is a lot more junk up there than we think.

You should research asteroids.
- Talk about how many there are
- Talk about the different types of asteroids
- Talk about the risk they pose to planet earth
- Talk about our ways to counter them so they don't hit earth
- Talk about what would happen if an asteroid did hit earth
You could make a cool project out of it.

Research the true scale and size of space. Try the source. Space is way, way bigger than most people imagine. WAY bigger. Most people have no clue at all how big.

Research H2 (diatomic hydrogen). It's largely ignored and virtually undetectable.

Wow, what a broad topic.
You've got black holes, dark matter, dark enegry, quasars, pulsars, nebulae, and billions of galaxies with billions of stars each.
