They both have similar backgrounds, but Buddah was born hundreds of years before Jesus. Both wanted to spread happiness, and seeking the truth, peace, things they all have in common, words of wisdom. Somewhat.

Buddah taught the seeking of truth throught the hearts in beliefs in the heart. Early teachings of Christianity?

Why cant Buddah be considered a Saint? Even though he never mention of christianity.

Buddah was a seeker. But he never found Jesus. And the atonement for sin wasn't made yet. So, Buddah wasn't born again. To be a Saint, you must be born again.

When Jesus raised from the dead, He sent the Comforter. The Holy Spirit. And that is when we, who believe in Jesus, are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Then we are born again.

And, the Old Testament Saints are those of Israel who had an atonement for their sins in the Covenant with the LORD God.

only born-agains can be saints.

1- Christ never said he came to spread happiness. happiness is dependant on situation, and there will be tough times. He promises the fruit of the Spirit, which includes peace though. peaceful and happy aren't the same thing though

2- I don't really understand the "hearts in beliefs in the heart" statement. I know Christ taught about securing your soul and that a man is defiled by the words of His mouth and their evil intentions

3- saints know God. Buddha was atheist, no? call me St. Ray as I believe all Christians are saints..... essentially

To be a saint, one must be a part of the Church, worship God, live a Christian life, and achieve a godly perfection in Christ during this life. They must take the Eucharist, pray, and be made wholly into instruments of God. None of the pagans, lacking the truth of God, could ever reach this pinnacle of godliness no matter how lofty or good a character they were.

I do, however, believe that Gautama was one of the most righteous Gentiles to ever live before the time of Christ, and I respect him in a league with Socrates, Confuscius, Lao Tzu, Zeno, and other like philosophers. They, in their striving for truth and good, touched on as high a conception as they could outside the Church, and I am confident that Christ, after He freed the souls held captive to death received them into His Kingdom. For, He preached to the dead, and led them all out. I don't know how many of the old pagans believed and followed, but I am confident that Gautama was one of them.

Christ is the eternal Logos. In Greek conception, this is the rational and spiritual facility available to all men. He is the Light of men. Where there is good, reason, love, justice, and the like, there is Christ. The pagans weren't fully without God. For, Christ was the unknown God of Athens, the God that the pagan poets had unwittingly spoken about (and two of whom Paul quotes in his address at Aeropagus). I would suggest that you might enjoy the book, "Christ the Eternal Tao."

lol Christianity is to follow Christ. How could he have followed one he didnt know? He could have only folowed the creator as the Jews did.

P.S. Your answers are funny in a way. Catholics? A saint cannot be named by man. Catholics are so far from the truth they cannot see the simple things such as the light of day. The scripture goes against those things they teach. Why do you look to them for someone being called a saint?

Because there is no such thing as a saint or a higher being in Buddhism....

In Buddhism, everything is equal from the "devas" to the worms, all are equal and all have buddha's nature. There are no gods, not the master of the universe type, but only the beings of superior intellect and capability, you can think of them as more evolved aliens :P.

Lord Buddha is not only saint...He's God!
God sometimes visit this planet, disguised in different forms; He came in India,as the priestly class was corrupt, and were utilising the scriptures-Vedas-for practicing animal sacrifices,as they loved meat-eating.[btw,Jesus did the same thing by chasing after the animal sellers at the synagogue:he was also an animal lover,as all saintly person, including St Francis of Assissi]
So,by refuting the Vedas, and preaching a new way of non-vioence,he succeeded to stop meat-eating all over India, when Emperor Asoka decided to impose Buddhism as a state religion.
By worshipping Lord Buddha, one worship God,as He is one of the ten Visnu avataras[incarnation of God]

The present incarnation of God has come in the form of the Holy Names of Krishna! We also promote non-violent diet and divine living.

Buddha is already a title perhaps more than just being a saint. Buddha means "The Illuminated One" and it is a title obtained by Prince Siddharta who became known as the Gautama Buddha.
Before making any recommendations, please make a thorough study first. Your suggestion is demoting him to being just a follower.
