Soon after the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was put into space by Colombia, it was discovered that the main mirror had a spherical abberation which ruined its resolution capability. Another shuttle mission took a repair team to adjust the CCD light gathering equipment to compensate for the abberation. We have the best pictures of our breathtaking universe because of it.
