Is what I got. The dude who said Yahoo games is wrong. From what you see here it is full of time cheats (that must know Yahoo's code) and the server crashes so often I recommend http://www.freechess.org as a playing site

For starters, you can read the rules of chess on Yahoo. As I recall, it covers all the legal moves of all the pieces, including the pawn's not-so-common "en-passant" move. I believe you can also find some basic strategy as well.

But if you want to go more in depth, I recommend the website: www.chessgames.com.

Chessgames.com is a database of chessgames that have already been played. Many, if not all, grandmasters have games listed on the site.

I use the site to study different opening variations, and to observe how some of the strongest chessplayers have played those postitions. It has certainly helped me become a better player.

there is a game called chess master which you can download on the yahoo games down load that and it will teach you how to play and you can fight the computer it is quite fun!

You could always pick up any of the Chessmaster PC games... that will teach you how to do it.
