I'm pretty technically challenged, and since my DVD player recently broke down, I want to get a portable one so I can use it outside the home too. But I also want to get a surround sound speaker system.. Would a portable dvd player work with it ? Thanks!

I should specify. The speakers are for using at home. I was planning to buy a regular dvd player with a speaker system.. but I travel a lot and getting a portable one will fit both situations. So I just wanted to know if speaker systems would work with the portable dvd player.
