well you can have a relapse.. I would check with your doctor.. sorry but there might be a chance for a long time.. I was on Paxil a day then took off it because I fell asleep 10 times in class.. not a good idea.. but I am happy its working for you.. but I'd check with the doctor.

You didn't say whether or not you are getting therapy. If not, you need to. With the help of a good therapist, some people can do without medication. I am still on meds, but not near as much as I used to be for panic/anxiety/clinical depression.
Therapy has helped me very, very much. I have no panic at all any more, and my anxiety and depression are muchly improved.
Good luck!!!!

Eventually your body will start making the chemicals that you need to not get panic attacks. Some people are on paxil for a short period of time and others it takes a little longer. Dont worry about it. Be happy that they are gone and that Paxil works for you.

Usually remain on meds about 12 to 18 months and if stable through all those months, usually atrial off is done. Usually gradual decrease is done. If the symptoms recur, then you need to make a decision about the meds. I think if it improves the quality of your life then it is worth it. It is no different when a diabetic needs insulin. Anxiety/panic are medical conditions, they are not just in your head !!!!

usually, a person will continue on the medication indefinitely because to discontinue the medication would likely cause the anxiety/panic attacks to come back. Paxil is a safe drug and will not cause any problems for you be remaining on it. It is also not addicting and nonhabit-forming.

If you are not already in therapy to deal with the reason for your panic attacks, do that first. If you can deal with the reasons for the anxiety and attacks, you will be able to live a quality life without the medicine. Good Luck, God Bless

While your thoughts convey one valid possibility, there are other possible scenarios to consider. (In otherwords, maybe, but)

Once your body and brain chemistry are restarted to function at a normal level (which it sounds like you have possibly attained) some people's bodies have been helped by the presence of the drug and have re-started making what was missing. (This is not something for you to be experimenting with on your own!! It is something to discuss with your Dr, and follow his advice.)
From what I have heard, At 8 months, you are possibly at the earliest stages of when a lessening of dosage might be considered.

Keep in mind that medication alone will usually not be entirely helpful in a problem such as yours. Learning new ways of coping and thinking and reacting through counseling/therapy is equally important to diminish your anxiety.

Paxil has the reputation in males to ruin ones sexual ability for life.No mater how long you take it.It is just another chemical strait jacket and will definately do you harm.Valium has becom a political issue so you can not use that one wisely either.

If they really help you that much, probably you will stay on them a long time, if not the rest of your life. But would you rather have what you did, or have to take a pill daily?

Many people stay on meds for YEARS...however, if you don't want to be taking them forever, try some CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy)...see if it works for you. They'll teach you how to be consciously aware of your irrational thoughts, and anxious feelings with different techniques.
