i want braces but i'm in a financial bind right now between bills, rent, car note, food expenses and school, someone told me that i could go to TJ. and get the braces put on way cheaper than it would cost me to start out here, (CA.) it sounds like a good idea seeing as how i can always get my ortho treatment out here in CA ,

Though many people seek dental treatment in Mexico, you must be aware that these dentists are not governed by the American Dental Association, and therefore, may not have the same standards of care that are mandatory for your protection.
If you decide to pursue ortho treatment in TJ, you really need to follow through all of your routine appointments so that you can benefit from that Dr.s care. If you live too far to make the drive every 4-6 weeks, I don't see how this can save you much money.
If you plan to make the drive just to have braces put on, you may have trouble finding a dentist that will continue your treatment with your existing appliances. Braces work by using force from the wires that are in line with specifically placed brackets on your teeth. Unless you remain with the Dr. that placed the braces, a new Dr. may refuse treatment, or require that new brackets be placed. This may actually cost you more money in the long run.
You have to understand that dentists are responsible for the outcome of their work, and you really cannot ask them to guarantee someone else's work.

If I were you I would not seek dental treatment in TJ, Mex. the quality of treatment is not the same as it is here. Look for an affordable orthodontist. There has to be a alternative. You might not like the results you get after your treatment, then what can you do? I know of people that have gotten their dental treatment and braces there and were not happy. Some had their work redone here, so they wasted time and money. Think about it.

DID YOU EVER CONSIDER TREATMENT FOLLOWUP?
IN THE FIRST PLACE NO AMERICAN ORTHODONTIST WILL TAKE OVER MEXICAN BRACE ADJUSTMENT.
SECONDLY, WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO TJ ABOUT EVERY 4-6 WEEKS FOR AN ADJUSTMENT?
YOU CAN ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE MORE FINANCIALLY STABLE TILL YOU BEGIN ORTHO IN THE USA.

Look, what should be important to you it should be hygiene, people have died from dirty needles bad hygiene methods, etc.in these third world countries. You can't find good medical services in third world countries, because if you don't died from the wound you surely will died from the infection cause by bad hygiene, so be careful. I don't think that you are going to died if you wait until your financial situation get better. Now is up to you to decide !

Now what do you think? Obviously, since you're asking, you have some doubts. Go with your gut.
