The way they were brought up?
Their parents?
The fact that they live in a small town in Texas with a population of 100, and has never left the town?
What's your opinion?

Yes, east asian parents who don't teach their children that EVERYONE deserves respect, and that they ARE NOT superior to anyone else, and they DO NOT have the right to whine and pout and cry like babies just cos they don't get their way. They never taught them how to grow up and be adults. All they ever see is their elders talking about Black people and Latinos and white people and saying how horrible they are. They raise racists and then they turn around and cry that no one likes them. They're not friendly or courteous, that's why no one likes them. And when was they last time you heard of them being scared of white people? They always accuse blame Blacks and Hispanics for the source of their problems. They need to take responsibility and learn to respect the rest of the people in the world. That's not a racist remark, it's pointing out the obvious and a message that thier hatred needs to stop.

Some of the reasons you mentioned might be true. I think it might also be true that they might have had experiences with other races that have turned their views of that race upside down. It could be cultural differences. Say a white person listens to country music, and does things a certain way, then they move to LA or New York or wherever and encounter for the very first time black culture, hip hop, and just generally a totally different way of doing things; it is no surprise that based on these cultural differences racism will arise.
Some cultures and viewpoints don't mix, just like oil and water don't mix.

Some people really are just true racists, but I think there are a lot of people that just stick to the cliques they fit into. You see it in a High School cafeteria everyday; you see it in ANY cafeteria everyday.

Racist parents, raise racist children, then the children grow up and become racist adults!!!Its a cycle...Racist people can live anywhere, not in just in a small town.. If the children were not taught to hate certain people, i feel like there would be alot less hate in the world!!!And racism would eventually end!!But that is wishful thinking!!

This is one theory: (A lot of people on Yahoo Answers seem to agree with)

Isolated People
Less Educated
Fearful of Change
Many negative past experiences
Narrow-minded
People from an Authoritarian Background (Told what to do)
People with serious self-esteem problems

Collectively this usually leads to someone becoming a racist person.

Racism is a natural state of man...
You feel more comfortable with things that look more like you.
That is why people like to hangout with people and not trees or elephants. That is why our pets have similar facial characteristics as human babies...It is a a bit of a defense mechanism.

The problem is that people cannot accept that they are animals. And-so they try to justify those natural instincts.

That is why people are racists. Because they are ignorant about how their mind works.

Their experience.
I went to a predominantly white junior high and high school. From my experience, and what I went through its so easy to live like that. But I choose not to. I owe my existence and everything I am to God! (that's another testimony)
Pride causes people to push others down to build themselves up!

Racism is a distraction from our true purpose, in this life.

The devil is a liar!

Soooo

Don't believe the hype!

Taxes and age. The older I get and the more taxes I pay and see pi$$ed away ( on those that don't matter), the more racists I get.
As far as that "certain" group with most of their population on welfare or have their bucks in prison, they are racists because of self guilt and self hate.

i'm mexican american and that i've got considered my uncle or aunts or dad been discriminated against via white, asian, and black human beings...if i've got been to alter into racist in the direction of them i could lose lots of respectable relationships I even have with human beings now.......nonetheless i see what you recommend...racism is one enormous circle your racist in the direction of them because of the fact their racist in the direction of you and it retains happening and on.......to interrupt a circle like this, all you're able to do is be accepting of all races whether they are not accepting to you..,.....the only thank you to kill racism is with kindness

In my experience, I have found people from smaller communities (country places) have not "bought into" values that educated and cosmopolitan people in larger cities do. Likewise, poorer people -- who by all rights should think in terms of solidarity with all downtrodden and ostracized people -- often are racist because they lack the educational, cultural basis to think it's wrong. I have in the last few years heard the most shocking racism fall out of poor white people's and poor black people's mouths.

A lot of racism on yahoo answers has a potentially less tragic portent: the people perpetuating it here are young and foolish and are letting others tell them what to think. In time, many of them will see the error of their ways. Those who don't... well, there's always the G.O.P., which will welcome them with open arms.

Its because we take opportunities to put down others to feel our great enjoyment.
I hate racism, and I hate all others that take away rights of others with out no reason. Its how we judge things in this world and it will ennd up this way until someone will break the line just like MJK did.
