every body is so friggin sensitive these days any little bit something out of the ordinary is gonna cause it.contraversial is an over used word.

A movie that is controversial like oh say.. 300 may show or depict something in a way that other people may not appreciate or they could show something religious in a different way than most people might think. But most of the time its just an extreme amount of explicit content.

a movie becomes controversial when the topics it discusses are viewed as controversial. For example, a movie about abortion, gay marriage, or religion are controversial when they are not the same as the accepted version for public, like theHoly Grail.

Bill Clinton won an Oscar for "An Inconvinient Truth," a documentary for global warming, but they gave it to Bush because the Supreme Court said "Mr. Clinton may have made the movie, but President Bush contributed to it."
