I had a "threatened miscarriage" on saturday, but the ER doctor never did a blood test. I did a blood test today and the nurse said I'm at 219 (I'm really early, they couldn't see anything when they did an ultrasound). So how quickly do your hcg levels drop?

The actual hormone change begins to take place either during the D&C or when the placenta pulls away from the uterus during the natural miscarriage, which is usually when the cramps and bleeding are at their worst. That is Day 1 of the recovery after miscarriage.

Your bleeding will taper off to spotting within a week, and maybe random spotting will continue for another week. Your hCG drops steadily, usually hitting zero during the end of the spotting, or about 10 days after the miscarriage or D&C.

It should not be positive at 2..I would go to the doctor if you are getting a positive. Certain medications can cause a false positive. Also sometimes urine may be contaminated with blood or other proteins that may turn it positive- so if you are sure about those hCG levels, I would go to to a doctor. As for how fast the levels drop, it's totally different for everyone. Mine got to 4, around 5 weeks after I miscarried. The doctor stopped tracking it after that since anything below 5 is considered non pregnant. Good luck!
