I can't pay my rent, is there anything I can do to find rental assistance?

I live in San Antonio, Tx. I am a full time college student, and I missed a few days of work due to an overwelming amount of school work due, since it's getting close to finals. My boss told me that I was basically fired and now I can't pay my rent (I was barely making it to begin with). Even if I FIND another job, I won't get paid until after the rent is due. What can I do? I don't know how evictions work.

Apply immediately to Social Services, not knowing Texas law, my state will help with one payment of rent. See what other assistance you qualify for, like food stamps so your not using your money.

1. Talk to your landlord. They might have some advice or may be willing to work with you.

2. Consider taking out a loan. This is a quick fix, and should only be done if you exhaust other possibilities, but the rent must be paid! Start with friends and family, but if you must, there is always the bank or credit union.

3. Talk to the unemployment office about your situation. They may be able to help or advise you.

4. Next year apply for more financial aid. If you are a student, you should be able to get enough to live off of. That is what it is there for.

Where I am from they have places that you can go that will help you with money. You usually just have to prove to them that you need help and it's an emergency. They don't like to help freeloaders but if it is an actual crisis they will help you. Look into something like that. San Antonio is a big city and has to have something like that.
