pitbulls are naturally a very muscular breed.

providing your dog with a nutritous diet & regularly exercising with your dog helps your pet to build it's natural musculator. you can't expect your dog to be fit unless you're willing to put in the time to get fit w/ your pet. build on natural activites with your dog, like running or swimming. swimming is actually one of the best activites for your dog because it's low impact so it doesn't affect the joints, it tones muscles & provides a cardio work out as well.

You don't need to use the weight vests to get pitbulls strong. i have two pits and one is 13 yrs old, the other is 6 months. If you want a strong pitbull it all depends on thier age if you want them to be well tempered too. if you have a puppy under a yr old then it wouldn't be good to play rough with it because they can become very bitey when older. it would be best to wait a while and train it to not bite and to listen to you first before you were to start playing tug of war with it to get her/him strong. It's best to play outside so they have traction on the ground and eventually they'll become strong enough to pull you across the yard until you decide to let go of the rope bone. ehehe. and for the comment above me... that usually only strengthens thier neck, it's better to put your own muscle into it so it strengthens everything and pitbulls always have problems with thier back legs when they near 8 yrs of age so just hanging won't help them out in the long run... If you're planning to fight the pitbull then you're a C.U.N.T!...

Pit bulls are without a doubt the most controversial canine on the planet.

The accounts of these canines range from war hero to The Hound of the Baskervilles.

There are many opposing opinions being voiced loudly on all sides of the pitbull issue.

For many people that have either grown up around pitbulls or have come to know the breed understand, that the pit bulls described in the present day media are far from the family pet that they know.

Yet on the other side are those people that have been injured, maimed, and even killed by pit bulls, or at least a dog that was called a pitbull.

I say called a pitbull because the average persons opinion of just what pit bulls look like varies greatly.

This site was designed to demonstrate the misconceptions of just what pit bulls are, what pitbulls look like, and what kind of dogs they truly are.

In the U.S. from 1979 to 1996, 304 people have died from dog attacks.

The breeds most frequently implicated were Pit bulls, Rottweilers, and German Shepherds.

Truly, there just isn't a better friend in the world than your dog, and pit bulls are no exception.

There is a unique bond between dogs and humans, unlike any other animal on the planet.

Dogs have played an important roll in the lives of human beings all through history. Some of the earliest "fossil" finds of dog and man together date back to 10,000 BC.

What's the "Real Dog" versus the common present day perception?

Right now there probably isn't a canine that is more maligned or misunderstood than pit bulls are. The fact is that these dogs didn't always have this "Hell Hound" mystique.

Pitbulls or pitbull dogs, did not get their freighting reputation because of their genetic makeup.

It is true that...

Pits have, what are considered to be, the most powerful jaws in the canine kingdom, and they also have an incredibly high threshold for pain.

It is also true that...

Pit Bulls were originally bred as fighting pit dogs, and that pound for pound, a pit bulls are probably the strongest canine in the world, as well as the most athletic.

Unfortunately, this very combination of strength and agility has caused some unscrupulous people (Thugs) to breed aggressive pitbulls, so that they can exploit their athletic power for their own profit, or ego.

Pitbulls also have become popular with some people for all the wrong reasons. The hell that dog fighters put these creatures through is truly deplorable by any standards.

What has also added to the pitbulls "Bad To The Bone" reputation is that some people out there only buy pitbulls because they want to own the"Badest Dog On The Block" (Hey, do you think their trying to compensate for something?).

These people want mean and aggressive animals. They look to breed Pit bulls that have aggressive temperaments. These types of pitbulls are a danger to other animals as well as to the neighborhood they live in.

But many breeders have jumped on the "Breed For Greed" band wagon trying to make a quick buck.

They over breed their pitbulls and also interbreed the pit bulls too closely.

These types of breeding practices, only will produce unstable and possibly dangerous animals.

Breeding dogs to perform certain tasks is not unusual.

The Fox Terrier was bred to chase fox's out of their dens for hunters.

The Bull Mastiff was used by game keepers to run off poachers.

Huskies were bred to pull sleds over long distances.

Unfortunately, Pit bulls were bred for fighting.

Pit bulls that are properly bred, are among the most intelligent, clean, loyal and docile dogs in the world.

Pit bulls are very easy to train and make excellent family dogs.

Pitbulls are truly people-dogs! For this reason they do not make good watch dogs.

Pitbulls themselves have become somewhat of an "Urban Legend".

Even if your pit bull is a big goof, just the breeds reputation is enough to scare off most intruders.

So maybe a bad reputation isn't always a bad thing.

Pitbull Dog & Puppy Training Advice

Take your dog to obedience training. There you will learn how to train him/her.

No muscle building is necessary for this breed.

This breed is slowly going down hill and will soon be banned from pet ownership. Only competent breeders will be allowed to breed them.

I used to think that the breed was just misunderstood but the more I learn or experience about it the more I am against this breed. Through personal experience I have learned that this breed is very undependable. I wouldn't have one for life or money. I have tried to work with this breed but they are too head strong & muscular to even do police work. A fully trained Pit Bull fails miserably on his job. But, basic obedience training is a must to have control over such an animal.

I have yet to meet a Pit Bull that is calm, cool & collected. & believe me when I say I have tried to work with them. Many of them. I wanted to know for my self & I learned the hard way. Pits are not reliable, dependabe, or trust worthy.

First off, why do you want your pitbull to build muscle? You train a pitbull like any other dog. You aren't planing on fighting it are you? If so, beware!

I knew someone who hung a thick soft rope from a tree with several knots at the end a few inches apart. His dog would play with that rope all day long. It was far enough off the ground to accommodate the dog's length. He said that dog would run and jump, chomp on the rope between the knots and hang for minutes at a time, wrestling about.

It looked funny, but the dog enjoyed it. It was like a one dog tug of war, I suppose.

Locking his jaw onto things feels good to him. A tire in a tree or making him pull a tire builds leg muscles. When he turns, you will need to keep him chained and away from other dogs.
They are loving pets but also a great responsibility. Often they are too much of a responsibility for most people. They are very funny with great personalities, but they will fight another dog in an instant.

to train your pit?? let him know that you are the one in control dont treat it like a kid with the baby talk reward it when it does something that u like and repeat such as tricks and etc. also when u walk him make sure you are the one walking him not him walking you. you see alot of people with dogs and the are being dragged and when u want the dog to do some thing dont think about it or how would the dog feel just do it cause the feel your energy when u enter your house dont address the pup stay calm and he will know but if u start with the hey boy hey hey what u doing whats that and basically start spazing out he will clownyeah pit bulls are strong dogs but that dosent mean it cant become a good house dog i have two pits one tiger strip and one black nose both were raised around kids but never in their whole life did they show any aggression towards them and if your trying to raise him to fight then you dont need him train yourself how to fight cause u make it hard for me and my dogs cause of people like you

I have five pitbulls and they are all pure muscle without any weight using. Just allow them to run around, and play
tug-a-war, mine love that. I don't think I am for the weight activites. But the are the breed that love to please their humans.
