That could be a list of complicated problems with the electrical system. Check the connecter where it hooks to the fan clutch on the air conditioning compressor. Some car makes have a resistor in that connecter that can be shorted or just go bad. Check all of your battery connections from the battery to the alternator and to the ecm. It may not be the answer but it is a place to start. Good luck.

I can tell you from professional experience, this is a problem, what is occuring is the alternator output is lower than battery voltage when you add the additional load to the electrical system, I would bet that if you turned on your brights and vent blower on high, you could get it to happen as well, this is an alternator or regulator problem, I would also recommend taking it to a reputable repair shop, don't be afraid of a dealership as you may pay more for a part but you will get the warranty to make it worth while.

Most likely your altenator is failing, and is not putting out the appropriate current. Another cause could be faulty battery cables. You should be able to have your alternator tested at an auto parts store, or use a electrical multi-meter and check the amperage output of the alternator versus what it is supposed to be, which varies between make and model. You could probably find that spec by using a search engine, but the whole proceedure and spec can be found in a service manual for your specific car and year.

I can only guess without seeing it in person. Does the battery light come on when driving, or only at idle? It might be that the ac is slowing your idle speed to the point that the alternator isn't charging. It could be an engine and/or alternator problem.
Or it might be a short in the ac clutch.

Essentually you have a problem. You are drawing more power than your alternator can produce. See the first 2 answers. Go to Autozone and they can check the charging system for free.

Some great responses.
Frequently that also happens when the clutch on your compressor is pulling too many amps which places a strain on the alternator.
