What makes a red solution, like cherry koolaid, appear red to your eye? What colors of light are absorbed and what colors are trasmitted?

yellow and blue light is absorbed. The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue, and you see red, so the other two must have been absorbed

It looks red because it absorbs all colors except for red, which it partly reflects and partly transmits.

So when white light hits it (which is made up of all colors), only red "bounces" back to your eye, so you see it red.

Likewise, if you look at a white light through a glass full of cherry koolaid, only red makes it through, so you see the light as red.

red is a primary color, so I'd think red was absorbed.
