help with desktop icon !!!?

hey i downloaded some cool icons but i cant put them as my default ones.....can anyone help me...there called xp-icons...i downloaded them and stuff.and when i open the folder i only see the pictures of the icons...and i cant put them as my default ones..plz someone hep me :)

Right-click an item whose icon you want to change. If you *can* (if it's a short-cut!) you'll see a window where the second tab says "Shortcut" and down at the bottom it says, "Change icon" and you can go through the rig-a-ma-role of setting the icon for that item to the file containing the image (icon) you downloaded that you want to use instead of the one that's there now.
