You were snooping where you did not belong and found out information you would not have been privy to otherwise. If you stir the pot and say something, it could come out that YOU were doing something wrong and you could get fired.
It's a bad thing to get in someone else's affairs (literally). I told someone their boyfriend had gotten another girl pregnant and she got mad at ME and has never spoken to me again. So, things could backfire, I'd be quite, if I were you.
OK, I retract my first paragraph... since it is your job to go through emails. In that case, I would report what you found to your supervisor, but not get involved any other way. I still stand by my 2nd paragraph regarding any further involvement. Good luck.

First off, there is a privacy issue here. You ought not go snooping around peolpes obviously private email even though you are the IT guy. You will come off worse in all this, trust me.
Secondly, marriage is a very complex thing. Ken and Barbie might have perfectly legitimate reasons for sleeping with each other ~ who knows what their partners are up to anyway~ and if you go around telling Tom, Dick and Harry all about this little lovenest... only bad things can come from it in terms of how it impacts on you...
If I were you, I would try and get into Dawn's pants and forget about the other stuff.

What does Barbie's daughter has to do with what her mom does ?? her mom is entitled to do what ever or whom ever she wants as long as it's two consenting adults..
You have no need or obligation to tell Dawn that her son is dating an adulterer's daughter unless Dawn is married to Ken !
Keep the secret, respect Ken and Barbies privacy and let thing processed naturally..
Best of luck

First of all you are already in the middle of it. Staying out of it, is your big problem, as you already know whats going on.
You can keep your mouth shut. As in dont go gossiping to everyone else about the secret that you know about.
Dawn is your Supervisor, just do your job as your normally would when coming across emails that arent company related.
You dont have to name any names, just do what you are supposed to do. Dawn is the super, so let her figure out who is and who isnt. Keep your trap shut, as long as you arent screwing anyone you arent supposed to and then blabbing about it over emails at work I wouldnt be worried.

You are the IT guy at work, and your job seems to be to monitor computer activity and report non-work related emails. You need to report it to the supervisor,Dawn and let her handle it and not get personally involved. People who have affairs usually get whats coming to them. As a professional its your responsibility to report it. Don't make any comments, just the facts. This is probably the down side of your job, but they hired you to do it. In my opinion, people who use company time for such stuff are stealing & immoral and not very smart. Good luck.

How are you supposed to do your job? Is it honestly by reading peoples' e-mails?
If that's really the case, do employees KNOW that their e-mails are being read by IT?
If so, if I were you, and this is my job, I would immediately (and I mean right now, today) send out a company-wide memo *reminding* people that all electronic communication is being monitored and to please be circumspect about any and all communication which is being sent out on company-owned equipment on company time.
(But I have to admit, I would also be disappointed that I could not "follow-up" on the lovebirds...)
Ooooh, yuck...they're not lovebirds--- I just read the part about them both being married...they're CHEATERS.
Never mind.

It is against the law for IT "guys" (as if I believed this one) to snoop into the emails of employees IF you were to report it your butt would be right there in line for the walking papers as well because you broke the law as well as company policy. IF you WERE an "I.T. guy" then you wouldn't have needed to ask this quesiton.

Well Barbie's daughter has nothing to do with her sex life and neither does Dawn. I say keep your mouth shut and mind your business. Is Dawn Ken's wife or something? If not, then who cares? It's nobody's business who they are sleeping with unless they're married. And even if they are, that's for their spouses to worry about and not your place to tell.

Well your not friends with Barbie or Kens spouses, so you really don't have an obligation to tell anyone who is being directly impacted by this affair.

dont say a darn word or you will be the bad guy, let the cards fall and don't admit or say a thing. this is not your problem and its very difficult to say something at this stage when they could reverse all the crap on you and why do you need it. Dont say anything and just enjoy the players. I only say this if you are sure nobody is going to get hurt. take care Heather
