I believe what the bible says about death:

Ecclesiates 9:5,6 10: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun. " 10: "All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She´ol, the place to which you are going. "

Sheol in Hebrew means "common grave of mankind." No after life, no burning hell, no wonderous heaven.

What about the soul. Well soul derives from the original hebrew word "Nephlesh" (sp) which means basically you, body, you ARE a soul. It's not seperate for you:

Genesis 2:19 , "Now Jehovah God was forming from the ground every wild beast of the field and every flying creature of the heavens, and he began bringing them to the man to see what he would call each one; and whatever the man would call it, each living soul, that was its name. "

Notice it says "LIVING SOUL." This does not indicate a seperation from the person you are. This is also backed up by the original Hebrew word from soul and it's meaning.

Eziekal 18:4 "Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. "

There is no "soul" that lives on. It's basically another way to say body, you. IN the original Hebrew a "soul" is anything that has lung capacity. So yes, animals are "souls" it never anywhere in the Bible states, that that soul "lives on" after death.

However it doesn't end there! The Bible promises those who are dead will rise during the times of the great resurrection . John 5:28,29: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."

Revelation 21:3-4 "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” "

Yes, I believe in an afterlife. There is a Heaven and Hell. Good people go to Heaven, bad people go to Hell. Heaven is beautiful and endless with crystal palaces and gardens and smells wonderful, like jasmine or sandelwood incense. Hell is an underground cavern of fire and sulfur and stinks like bad fart fumes....Hitler is there, along with Saddam Hussein. G.W. Bush has a place reserved for him there, too.....
Gandhi, Mother Teresa, My Dog, Lucky, etc...are in Heaven. Does that answer your question?

If you are a believer in Christ then you would believe what has been written for your welfare; there are different circumstances for different people. Christians who die in the faith go to be with the Lord. Others go to Death, Hell, and to the sea. All will be raised up in an eventual judgement Day, the First Resurrection for those who believe in Christ and the Second for all the rest.

It is appointed unto men once to die, and after that the judgment.

I believe that we will all kneel before Jesus Christ, and give an account of our lives. The books will be opened, and those that rejected Christ will have their names erased from the book of life. Our names are already written in the book of life because it is God's will that all mankind find salvation through Jesus Christ.

Those who surrender everything to Jesus Christ as the Lord of their lives will not taste of the second death, but will inherit eternal life! We'll have a huge blowout party, a banquet like we can't even imagine, and dance and sing our hearts out in joy. It will be a party like there never has been, nor will ever be again.

I do hope you will be there to party and dance on streets of gold- the door is Jesus Christ.

It's always interesting to think about as a living person, isn't it? I believe there is a very strong chance that you sleep without dreaming and never wake up..just like how you felt before you were aware of your own consciousness. The bottom line is that the question is irrelevant and we should most certainly live our lives as if this is our only chance to live. Not live our lives based on stupid people's bullshit. I have never met an intelligent religious person, but I have met mostly extremely well-read, educated atheists and agnostics. The atheists and agnostics have been the most practical, friendly, open-minded and understanding of the prism.

No after life. There is no consciousness without biology. There is no heaven nor hell except within the active (alive) human imagination. And focusing on them is a distraction from the only life we will ever truly know, this one.
