I think I had an early miscarriage (at 4 weeks) because of the amount of cramping and passing of clots. If I did have one how long will the cramping, etc continue? And at what point (how many days etc) should I call to see the Dr.?

I experienced this a few weeks ago. The cramping lasted two days. The bleeding lasted heavy for three days. After that is was light for a few more days. I decided not to have a D&C done because I was so early on (about 6 weeks). I did, however, go to the doctor.

The length of the cramping and bleeding will vary from woman to woman, but if you were only 4 wks it shouldn't last longer than a regular period.

Go to the doctor straight away so he can check you out and make sure you did, indeed, have a miscarriage. Also you may need a D & C, so don't put it off. The sooner you get it behind you, the better.

Call your Dr and ask if they'd like to see you. I know that miscarriages up to a certain point can cause damage to your internal parts and/or your fertility. I don't know if one at 4 weeks would be in this category, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Your doc may want to do a D and C on you just to get everything tidied up.

Did you have positive pregnancy test or are you just having a very messy period that you think may be a miscarriage?? If you did have a positive test then you could be having a miscarriage. Get to the ER asap, don't sit around on this site asking when no one can really tell you for sure what is going on. Please go now!!!

Call your doctor. If everything didn't come out with the spontaneous abortion, they have to to do a procedure called Dilation and curretage (sp?) A D & C. They scrape out your uterine lining.
