I just got this brand new puppy named Duke and we've had this other dog named precious for about a yr and a half. When we brought the dogs home we thought they would get along just fine... not the case. They hate each other!!! It's been about two weeks and still no peace in the house. He constantly wants to play with her but she doesn't want to play with him and they start to get into a fight. We don't want to rehome either of them so that is not an option. Can anyone give us any advice on how to make them get along or even just tolerate each other.

well, its going to take time! Make sure that you get the puppies energy out by it playing with you or any other family member, that way its not driving the older dog crazy. make sure you keep the older dog's routine, meaning feeding time, play time all the same. that way it doesn't feel like the puppy is running the show, but that its the same. You probably should of introduced them differently but that's too late now, so just be patient, and dont give up the dogs..
