Yes it's efficient enough for Vista Basic. I have this on my laptop and I'm planning on buying more RAM soon.

Yes but if you want more so Windows Vista Basic get 1GB of it your computer will go faster

PS Windows Vista does not run all the programs
You will have to get a virus scan that supports windows vista

In theory and according to the requirements, 512MB is sufficient. However I have been running Vista Business for the last month with a 2Ghz Dual-Core and 2GB RAM, unless I turn off the animations - it can at times feel very slow.

If you can, invest in a minimum of 1GB.

From what I've seen of the tech reviews thus far, it is the minimal amount of RAM that will run Vista, and it will run only the Basic version efficiently.

sure, a million gig is sufficient for conventional use. Vista is a source hog, the extra memory you upload, the smoother abode windows will run. I relatively have 2gb of ram on my computing gadget and that i hit upon it to run gradual and circumstances. it particularly is a twin middle computing gadget too.
