Do you think the hatred most people overseas feel toward Americans is justified?

I believe most of it is not justified, but people believe what they are being taught and I'm pretty sure that hatred is taught. I know that I am an american and I can't imagine why anyone would hate me. I save hatred for people who have personally done something really bad to me. You cannot group people together and just say I hate them because they are this or that. I am just trying to live my life and teach my children to be good people by getting up every day and working my butt off, coming home and instilling values and morals into them. Probably the same goals as most of the people in most of the countries that "hate" americans. You don't know me so you CAN'T hate me!

For the American citizen? Of course not. If you're a jerk, you're a jerk. No country has a monopoly on jerks, you just are. If someone is a jerk to you simply because of your nationality, then they're a jerk to everyone.

I've been throughout most of Europe, and a good part of South America too. Learn a few phrases, go with an open mind, and you'll be fine. There are jerks who visit countries, and jerks who stay in countries and are jerks to the tourists. No worries.

No one really likes the Bushies right now. Heck. America itself is at each others throat for the current Administration. That's what most are pissed off about.

But in closing. Everyone likes a cool dude, regardless of where you're from. Be cool, and you'll be treated cool.

I haven't experienced much hatred on my visits abroad. I've been to Switzerland, Germany, France and Ireland most recently, and that may have something to do with it.

No. Not w/ the general citizens anyway. Resentment is somewhat justified w/ some of our leadership though.

somewhat justified, we Americans take our prosperity,
freedom and overall well-being for granted, then flaunt what
we have and belittle other Nationists throughout the world.
check the book "The Ugly American" we gotta try harder folks

yes i think they have the right to hate americans. i am an american myself but i feel that for the past decade the US has been getting nosy. for example, killing people because they have nuclear weapons when we, ourselves, have nuclear weapons. so WE'RE allowed weapons to defend ourselves and others aren't? wth??? why don't we just all chuck the weapons out so that NO ONE can have them? hrrm????

Yes it is justified.

I'm an American and even I get fed up with the ignorance and arrogance of our country.
