Todays news reports the death of a coloured man who had been beaten to death with a spade.
The police are looking for "two White Men".
Why is it that when it is a black or coloured suspects, the police report that they are looking for "Two men"
Why does everyone have a problem with calling a spade a spade. I lived in S. Africa for a while, The blacks call us "Whites" what is the problem with that.
If a suspect is black, brown, yellow or any other colour, why cant we just say so.

There you go Ms Dee

Exactly on cue, someone jumps in feet first.

The statement "Two Men", was to indicate that if black or coloured men commit a crime then it is reported as "Two Men"

There was no hidden meaning in what I wrote, yet you suddenly dive in and imply racialism.
Is that what is causing everyone to avoid saying what colour a person is?

Life is hard, most of us spend most of our time just survivng and despite what you think, most of us have better things to do with our time than look for cheap opportunities to cast slurs on other races.

Or am i wrong about that as well?

its all to do with the PC brigade. i was born in south Africa and my dad (white) called his mate caffer and his mate (black) called my dad snowdrop. it didn't bother either of them. i grew up with no prejudices. i feel we are just too worried about offending people that we don't try to befriend them. classifying a race by a colour is just an easy way to identify people and should be taken just as that.

It is black not coloured. Has it ever occured to you that someone saw the man get beaten by two white men? And what on earth do you mean about the statement about 'Two Men'?? And there is no problem being called black or white if that is what you are.

Because of stereotypes. When most people hear that a crime was committed they automatically assume the criminal was black anyway, unless otherwise noted because most crimes that are reported on the news are committed by blacks, they dont report on crimes committed by whites nearly as much. Its sad but its true.

I have always heard the contrary to what you are saying here. It has to be where you are living, but in the Us and Canada, all i hear is two black men,,did this or that..so its weird i see it the other way around. But i think they add the color to allow the world to say this is a racist horrific crime. The world is a mess, but maybe if we can change the world one person at a time.....

This is not only silly, but dangerous. Two men broke into my moms house last week, I saw them both. One was black and one was white. I did hesitate to tell the police exactly that. I believe black is black and white is white. It is ridiculous for not to say what color a person is. If a white man wearing a red shirt robs the bank-it is stupid to detain all the black or hispanic men who are wearing red shirts.

They always give the description of the suspect here in the US. That's AP standard, used worldwide. Maybe these reporters should study their AP Stylebooks a bit more, because you're SUPPOSED to use the national terms to define ethnicity in a case like this. I do if the information is given, why don't they?

Because this nation has turned into the ultimate PC brigade. I do not take offence to being called white, and don't think that others from different ethnic back grounds care either

It certainly makes it hard to enlist the help of the public in getting the suspects.

"The alledged attacker was a man of indeterminate racial heritage."
