My optometrist says you can't but they seem to be much cheaper. Does anyone know of a reputable business to deal with?

It may not be illegal, except for the fact that it is dangerous. If you buy contacts over the internet, they may send you pr-used or defected material or impure fuild. This may ensure that you will have to go to the optomotrist, which you should of done in the first place.

The link to join a motorcycle club in the previous message notwithstanding...

Whether it is legal or not to purchase them over the 'net... I honestly would have to say consult a lawyer, or talk to a licensed optomitrist about the subject. After all, an optomitrist is likely to have an interest in an opthamologist's store (and would refer clients there), but still, he should be able to know, and explain to you which statue it violates, and then you can look it up on-line. It is not something that I genuinely concern myself with. I wear glasses and don't like contacts.

I would say that my concern would be the likelihood of receiving contacts from a company in Sudan instead of Canada or the US - essentially quality control and liability issues and an inability to contact them should something go wrong.
