By them both learning that just because one choose the opposite sex than the other changes nothing of what kind of person they really are.
Your religion may say that it isn't right BUT it probably is pretty likely that we are to accept each person for who they are and help share with them what and why you believe and/or think what you do...and people need to learn to tolerate WHAT exactly that other person thing/believes.
I personally am pretty religious and quite conservative but my best friend is bi....thats because it changes nothing of who he really is...
