I mean, is it like adequate shelter or do they just want a sense of security? Some don't have boxes, they usually use newspaper or the really smart ones live under bridges... I was just wondering why they use boxes. Why don’t they steal those little plastic playhouses that are in people’s back yards? Whenever the kids and parents are sleeping, they should like hop the fence and steal their playhouse. That would be cool. I would ask one myself, but I'm scared.

Areas where homeless people are don't have yards with play houses in them.

Why would they steal one? They can get boxes without stealing.

Cardboard reflects your body heat back to you, so, besides keeping the wind out, can be quite warm.

I think it's a matter of preference. At the homeless shelter where I work people prefer to "camp out" when the weathers nice and some find a bridge, yes some use a box (but overall I think it's just a stereotype), but most own their own sleeping bags and tents.

Maybe you should save your "I'm so much better than you because my daddy bought me a house" attitude and not ask them why. I think instead you should offer one some food sometime and talk to them about life, you may find someone much more intelligent and decent than yourself living in a box.

Also, if they were thieves and had no respect for others property they would be working on wall street or for the government stealing legally.

I've been homeless twice. Trust me. You go and do what you have to to survive. What's the alternative?

Anything to keep warm. It's not done in the summer.
