Not that I agree, just wondering why most people don't think women are as funny as men.

Because women aren't as vulgar. We are supposed to be cute and quant, not vulgar and disterbing, like most comendic acts are. Look at it this way; if a guy farts, the guys would laugh, and not see anything nasty about it. If a girl farts, its considered unnattractive, and a huge turn off. Its just culture.

There aren't as many female comics as there are men, so there will be less funny female comics in general only because of numbers.

Lisa Lampanelli, Whoopi Goldberg, Margaret Cho, Charo, Lucille Ball, Roseanne Barr, Ellen DeGeneres, Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, Carol Burnett, all hilarious. Oh, and Lisa Lampanelli go there, she does get as gross as the guys. She's downright disturbing, that's what makes her so funny. Same with "Notorious C-H-O" as one of her tours was called. Just the title alone had me rotf!

I'm not paid for it, but funny, really! I love putting my friends in stitches, lol!

Historically there have been "funny women" out there... fanny brice comes to mind. Lucille Ball was extremely popular throughout most of the mid to late 20th Century...the TV show I Love Lucy is still played in syndication somewhere around the world...so I doubt that "most people don't think women are as funny as men"...

now in everyday life...perhaps because there are some who think women aren't supposed to "show out" and they're supposed to stand in the background while the man is the life of the party? who knows?

I'm not sure. Many seem to restrict themselves from sounding as crude as the guys. Unfortunately, that crudeness is what makes most male comics hilarious. Maybe the audience has preconceived notions about what is and is not appropriate for a woman to joke about. This is a tough question.

Well there aren't as many famous comedians that are female. But I'd have to disagree with that statement overall (not with you, as you don't claim to agree or disagree).

I think that there are female comdians (Ie: Sarah Silverman, Amy Poller, Tina Faye, even Lisa Lamponelli) that are pretty good.

I think it's more or less that, on average, there are more male comedians then there are female.

I think they are pretty funny. Just as funny as men. Although I can relate to the men better.

I continuously liked Phyllis Diller, particularly whilst she'd seize her hair out and yell "Brassiere!" My sister and that i used to pass around the domicile doing that whilst we've been approximately 5-6
