I think it was #2 for a long time but now that New Orleans is a fraction of what it was the "windy city" now takes the title.

I don't think CHicago is the most corrupt but it been in the news alot because alot of the corrupt people are getting caught way more than other places thanks to the local media. The Chicago Suntimes has been one of the main media outlets that is finding out and helping to bring attention to the problems. .
FYI corruption and crime are two different things. A city could have no murders, robberies or rapes and still be corrupt. Lets say a city brought in 100 million in taxes in 2006 but the Mayor say it was only 90 million and uses the rest for something else. Or they could say that they have 50,000 who use a certain train station so that they get more money in the trasportation budget when really only 20,000 people use the station. Those would be corrupt acts.

Chicago is nowhere near the most corrupt city in the U.S. While they do have high crime totals in murder and violent crimes in general, they have a population of nearly 3 million. You have to look at CRIME RATES, it gives you a much better guage of how dangerous a city really is. I'm from Detroit, and I've also been to Chicago 11 times, and trust me - Detroit is much more dangerous than Chicago, by far. I've never feel unsafe in Chicago at all. New Orleans is also worse than Chicago as well. Bottom line is that when you have a lot of people in a particular area, there is going to be crime, and Chicago's is relative to the population size.

The most corrupt city in America IS NOT Chicago, it is Detroit. In Chicago, the city knows how to work together and they listen to their citizens. In Detroit, the goverment could care less about the citizens and nothing gets done. Everyday, Chicago is moving forward trying to host the 2016 Summer Olympics while in 2016, Detroit and its corrupt govemment will still be trying to more forward.

It depends on what you mean by corrupt. Politically maybe, but things get done here in Chicago, making it one of the best large cities in the nation. If you are talking about crime in general, I doubt that as well. There are some rough parts in the city, but there are places that are much worse.

What, nobody has mentioned San Fransisco? Maybe corrupt isn't the right word. Perhaps insane is a better word. Just talking about the local government, the city itself is great.

i have lived in Chicago almost all my life .and Daley is the most corupt.sneaky.liar since his father .but Daley knows how to run a city.he only wants a little money every time not all of it !indigently .his close aids are to greedy .and they are being arrested as i type this .also as far as crime statistics.we are low .and getting better every year.i think the bad guys realized that theres not much left to steal .and have moved on to your neck of the woods!
