Dissent is the highest form of patriotism. ~ Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States,
the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776),
and one of the most influential Founding Fathers for his promotion
of the ideals of Republicanism in the United States.

Yeah thats especially hectic and Im particular there's a lot greater the place that got here from, yet I additionally know that not all democrats and liberals experience that way. There are those who support troops but condemn the war, they will attend the same rallies or gatherings as the anti troops folks for the purpose of increasing their numbers MOST people who condemn the war are not set against the troops and then there are those who blame our troops for the problems that we have which is ridiculous of course.

For the same reason most conservatives and Republicans don't openly condem the fanatics on their side. How often do you see people coming out and condeming the right-wing hate-mongers who protest at soldier's funerals? Nowhere near often enough.

And what was the effigy of? Bush or Cheny or Rumsfeld? That's not attacking the troops. That's opposing an individual.

As with anything, context matters. And sadly, fanaticism on both ends of the political spectrum is far too tolerated.

I think you are seeing a few people and associating actions to a whole group---stereotyping.

What you see is probably people acting out of frustration, dude. When anti-war people say they support our troops, I think what they mean is they understand that our troops are people, somone's son, daughter, dad, etc. They want them to come home safe. They also want them not to be put in harm's way unnecessarily, or put in a war whose politics people disagree with. I myself feel the war was about control of oil, oil in another people's country, if it's Iraq you are talking about.
But, everyone handles their frustration differently--take for example, the gun-toting minute-men. I think people have to realize that real change happens over time, sometimes serveral life-times, and when people try to rush in change, you have heated arguements, violence, wars.

As far as condeming freedom of speech, that should be self explanitory. Sometimes freedom of speech is not handled tactfully, and it becomes negative.

You are obviously confused. Let me help you:

1. I've never seen or heard ANY anti-war protesters say "F_ck the troops". You have apparently confused "anti-war" with "anti-soldier". Sorry, but they are very different.

2. You ask why libs don't condemn individuals who hold anti-soldier views. Why do you feel the need to condemn them? In our great nation, citizens have the right to express their views, whatever those views happen to be...even if they are views that people like you and I find disagreeable. Your comment implies that you dislike the fact that we have the right to free speech. Do you hate the Constitution? Do you hate America?

3. Why do you only address the question of condemnation of such views to liberals? Why is it their responsibility? Why should they condemn others for exercising their Constitutional rights? Did you think it was ONLY the liberals who oppose President Chimpy and his asinine war?!? Hahaha! Priceless! Sorry, but that isn't the case.

Well, I hope this information clears things up for you and helps you to begin to assess the validity (or lack thereof) or your assumptions. Good luck!

Why do so many cons continue to criticize the actions of an entire group of people for the actions of a few? Are they incapable of understanding that the people who are against the war are a diverse group, some even republicans? Like with any large group there are going to be extremest groups who do idiotic things like burning troops in effigy.

What country are these protesters backing? Someone posted pictures of the protest on here and the people with the hateful signs all looked middle eastern. I honestly don't think there are many, if any, U.S. citizens who say what you claim. I also doubt that all of the protesters were "libs".

Face it, there are infiltrators hired by people to promote their own agenda all the time just for propaganda. Don't fall for it.

I haven't heard of any protesters disrespecting the troops. It's possible to oppose the war and still support the guys in the military...

A soldier's job is to follow orders. If you want to be angry with someone, it should be with the one giving the orders.
