Yes it is.
Dems will disagree just like their cowardly leader back in the 70's did.

Last time I checked, Britain still had the Royal Navy. Send that fighting force in with the big guns. America still has several ships that could be deployed into the gulf.
Western leaders are most likely secretly debating what hangs in the balance. Attack Iran and disrupt the flow of their oil in a market that's already very tight and the price of oil could triple!
The fact of the matter is, the U.S. troups abroad are openly disagreeing with their commanding chief, that is the president which in earlier times would be classed as insubordination and subject to severe discipline.
The U.S. military has sent out just about all the troups it can without creating a draft. The military is openly complaining about the conditions they face, not from the enemy but from the lack of support and supply from their own civilian leaders. I think that there is no question that a ground attack on Iran would require a great deal more personnel than is currently available.
Iran should be held accountable for its actions. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea for a change of government either in that country. Even their own people are tired of not having anything but strict Islamic rule. No French's mustard, no PlayBoy magazines, no Western TV.
If they are allowed to get away with this, tomorrow they will be only bolder and will attempt to gain support from other radical nations.
Perhaps, an ultimative will be what will happen and then, I would suggest first bombing their capacity to attack and that would be air fields, military instalations, etc. Then, followed by taking out their atomic weapon factories.

This situation has to be handled very carefully. Thank god the UK is being diplomatic, it is all to easy to make threats and give ultimatums but imagine if we get our bluff called. Iran is well aware of the game they are playing, they are pushing this incident as far as possible and hey, if we end up starting on Iran then the whole middle east will flare up.
We don't want that but it would suit Iran's long term goals. I'd like to say that I have just left the forces and my last job was carrying out the same duties as the bootnecks were on, we never made any boardings on vessels without direct authorisation from authorities in Bahrain. There is absolutely no way that these personnel knowingly entered Iranian waters. I am very sceptical of Iranian statements, especially when I remember being fired upon by Iranian soldiers during the liberation of Iraq in 2003.
All things aside, we need to be firm but very open to communication on this issue, there is too much at stake and I feel that we have more to lose in the long run.

If Britain was to give an ultimatum to Iran, what ultimatum can we give? We have troops fighting in Afghanistan and troops fihting in Iraq. Where are we going to find the troops to back up any ultimatum. As far As I have read and heard, it is possible that the marines were in Irans waters, and if they were then Iran had every right to take them and question them. We would have done the same if Iranian commandos were in Iraqi waters. Do we know the true reason why these Marines were there. Were they spying on Iran ? WE don't know the whys and wherefores because the Government never tells the public anything on sensitive issues. Besst leave it to Diplomacy.

OK . Where exacty were they picked up ? Were they in Iranian water? If so admitt it and you'l probably get them back with an apology. You all got to realize in a war no side thells the truth unless its to their advantage. With all the sabre rattling going on against Iran they are getting nervous. I would. The US, wanting to threaten the whole hemisphere at the same time, as if they didn't have enough trouble on their plate, dont have the brains to finish one job before they start another. Along come your people and cause **** in another part of the equation. The problem is we don't know what is the truth any more, if we ever did. As long as they aren't mistreated any more than other combatants held by you or the US. be diplomatic. Work it out that way. Don't start another wildfire. We, You, can't afford it.

As an American, I think you should be proud that your country is allowing cooler heads to prevail. However, once it is possible to react on a rational level instead of emotional level, the Iranians need to be dealt with. It is safe to say that you can count of the full support of your friends in the United States. We are praying for the safe return of your soldiers.

The trouble with an ultimatum is that you've nowhere to go once it's delivered. There are better ways of getting our guys out of Iran and, in my view, it's a re-hash of the old cold war tactics Russia once used. Giving an ultimatum to their moronic president is pretty much like waving a red rag at a bull.

They hold all the aces, remember its the government, not the people. Can only sit and wait. Its incredible to think that when they had an earthquake in Southern Iran, we, the Brits, sent over teams and dogs to find their loved ones in the rubble, plus aid for the people.

Your right. If it was American soldiers the bombs would already be falling. Iran is very very lucky they didn't grab the wrong guys. I truly hope Britain kicks Iran's ***.
America will certainly be there to help!

Don't think Britain could take on Iran, now I wonder if Bush will be as willing to help us out as we have so often helped them out recently. What William has said makes you wonder???
