If your father was in the American military, then you were most likely born on "American" soil overseas. One of your best bets would be to contact your local military recruiting office and ask them contacting Kansas City (they have ALL the records, near and far) for their vital records.

sorry, only one of those answer are correct you must right Washington DC vital statistic state department. I would go to there website with pertinent information. it cost a bit of money to do this has been posted before. because you need the certificate for children born aboard, then there is your passport document and final registration of birth. You dont happen to still have your passport laying around do you? That should work to
Before running all this down. Ask dad if he ever register it and any state or city official for buying a home or just for good measure. My son was born aboard 81 and he has his originals in a fire proof box and I can also get certificated copies in Colorado Springs where I had the originals recorded, What year and month where you born in Frankfurt

Almost always and with few exceptions birth certificates for overseas dependents are issued by the State Department. Go to the State Department site and the certificate is DS-1350. You pay something like $15.00 and have to send them a signed letter with your parents info.
Unless you need it super fast just do it on your own as it will usually appear in a couple of weeks. The online companies that say they can get it faster are generally a ripoff.
But one thing to think about. I was born in England on a US base. So I got an english birth certificate as well as the standard state department one. Plus I have friend who was born in Frankfurt and recieved a German one as well. So I would look into it. Plus since my mother is english and his was german we were both able to get passports from the respective countries in addition to American ones. Either way it would be neat to have a birth certificate from another country.
But for now...... just go to the State Dept. website.

Hey join the club...
Had to do the exact same thing this summer to get my name changed.
Call this number ( 011 4969 212 335 60 - Registry office - it's a long distance call btw ) and tell them your situation that you need a birth certificate. I'm guessing you were born in the U.S. Military Hospital in Frankfurt however all birth certificates do go to the local authorities.
Hope you have luck otherwise just send me an Email if it doesn't work out and I'll try to get the Info from them how you need to proceed. (memphis_rayns@yahoo.com)
