Staying just compounds a mistake that should never have been made.

Congress only has 2 options when it comes to war. Give the President the go ahead, and approve or disaprove war funding. Adding a clause in any bill forcing the President to withdraw forces by any given time undermines his power and makes the country look weak and divided.

A complete pullout of US troops dosn't undermine the Iraq war effort because if that happens there will no longer be an Iraq War Effort.

I answer this as a US Army Veteran of Vietnam & Desert Storm. Nevertheless, it's my own opinion. Irregardless of whether the USA should have or shouldn't have gone into Iraq is a mute point at this stage. We're there, and that's that.

To leave now would only serve to bolster the enemy's [terrorists] resolve to destroy Americans, the USA, UK, and all non-muslims. They would consider it a huge victory for themselves if we were to leave.

Iraq would become a slaughtering field 1000's of times bigger than it is already. Terrorists would take over, continue their planning and scheming to destroy the world.

Terrorists would train there, build their forces, add to their cache of weaponry and continue their focus on taking over the world.

Any "normal" citizens of the area would most likely be killed, raped, terrorized beyond description.

I donot like the US troops being there nor the havoc being wreaked on the country's citizens. Each time I see those small innocents kids missing an arm/leg/injuries all over their bodies it disturbs me badly.

Nancy Pelosi is raising heck about getting out. Nancy Pelosi hasn't a clue as to what war is about. She's not a US Military Veteran. Until one has had live bullets whizzing past his/her head, bombs hitting the ground within a few hundred feet, seen friends body's turned into hamburger meat.......................then they donot know war.

As far as WMD's. Just days prior to the USA's invasion there were seen by satellite big 18-wheeler type trucks, Russian made, moving "something" from Iraq over the border into Syria. WMD's perhaps. But it's a fact.

I still don't understand why Bush went in, I gave him the benefit of the doubt intelligence wise (I mean military intelligence of course).

If we let the world know our tactics and strategy, we'd let the enemy know. The problem is, I don't even know what the effort really is about, so I don't know what the goal is.

We don't want an independent Kurdistan because of Turkey, we don't want an independent Shiite country because of Iran, we don't want the old powers to get back in... but we claim we want a democracy (just as long as they choose something we like).

I think that silly position of having no realistic objective is what undermines the war effort. We need to compromise somewhere.

Let me put this way: we undermine the war if we stay. And undermine if we leave. But I still call this war criminal and unnecessary. USA never learns the lessons of history. But then, we didn't learn from the Vietnam War experience. For me is get out and do not intervene in other countries' affairs. Is that so difficult to learn?. But USA should also use diplomatic contacts before it leaves Iraq.

Yes it would because the Iraqis can't take care of them selves yet so we need to help them, but only for a while longer. We've done our part now let the Iraqis do theirs.
