Most Repair Garages do not charge for an evaluation. If the vehicle is running sluggish or seems to be running rough like a sputtering in engine while idling and or accelerating. Then you may need a tune up.If the vehicle has not had one done within the past year, and is running rough. Then you may need a tune-up.If it starts up fine and running fine with good gas mileage.you are in no need of a tune-up.You can call around to several garages as sometimes they have 'Specials' on tune-ups.Here is a little test: bend a sparkplug wire in half like you are squeezing it together. If you see cracks in the insulation, get the tune-up.No cracks? keep motoring.PS; As far as the Alternator, the belt may be stretched and cannot tighten.Repace the belt, when tightening, leave 1/4 to1/2 inch of slack in belt.Tightening the belt 'too much' can cause the bearing on Alt.shaft to 'burnout' Get battery checked at Auto Zone for free.
