Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: dark urine, persistent nausea or vomiting, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes or skin, easy bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever.
This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition (pseudomembranous colitis) due to a resistant bacteria. This condition may occur weeks after treatment has stopped. Do not use anti-diarrhea products or narcotic pain medications if you have the following symptoms because these products may make them worse. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop: persistent diarrhea, abdominal or stomach pain/cramping, or blood/mucus in your stool.
Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection (oral or vaginal fungal infection). Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
Amoxicillin can commonly cause a mild rash that is usually not serious. However, you may not be able to tell it apart from a rare rash that could be a sign of a severe allergic reaction. Therefore, seek immediate medical attention if you develop any rash.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist

all doctors give amoxycillin to children who have chest infections it is best the medication to get rid of a chest infection i have never known there to be side effects as i have always been given that antibiotic so has my brother i am asthmatic. if he had sickness and diarrheoa b4 he was on the medication it means he already had the bug in the system the antibiotic will not make it better just give ur child plenty of fluids. antibiotics works better after a meal thats y if ur child hasnt eaten when u give him medicine he will throw up.

are you giving him the medication right after he eats? that's when you are suppose to give it to him. i am pretty sure that diarrhea is a common side effect of this particular medication too. it could also be an allergic reaction that he is having to the antibiotic. keep feeding him foods as long as he is hungry but try be careful not to give him anything to heavy for his tummy and make sure that you are giving him pedialyte that is way better to give then water because it restores his electrolytes that he is losing every time he throws up or has diarrhea. i am not a doctor but i have two little girls of my own and have dealt with this a few times before. i think to be on the safe side though you should give his pediatrician a call and let him/her know what's going on. good luck and i hope your little one feels better soon.

i think you would be better to phone your doctor just to make sure, dont let them push you out untill you are satisfied, it is their job, and not your problem if there are other people waiting. ask to see a different doctor.
from experience with the same medication, my son had really horrible nappies while on it. they were totally different an extremely smelly. your son should be okay if he doesnt want to eat so long as he is drinking plenty, i think its okay for a few days, but i wouldnt let it reach 5days with no food.
but also the teething could be causing the runs. but if the medication is making your child sick then i think u really should go back to see the doctor.

when my daughter was put on that, it gave her dioreeah, the best thing to do if he is being sick is to stop the medication, give him plenty of water, i wouldn't give him solids or milk as it will just come up, and you want to get the bug out of his system and when he has got over the sickness start him back on the medicine and food and milk, if you still worried you can call nhs direct or you local doctors they'll have a out of hours contact number it will be on the surgery answering machine

If his poop is green in colour then stop the medicine immediately. Also if his temperature goes up and his body seems hot and not sweating the temperature out, stop using medicine.
He could be allergic to penicillin which is what amoxicillin is.
There are other anti-biotics he can be given - Erythroped usually, or Erythromycin.
Contact G.P. again - or maybe another G.P. in your surgery would be more helpful to you.
Hope he is better soon, poor thing.

sickness and diahorreah both common side effects but if its dragging on go back, see a different doc if you want and ask for a different antibiotic, there are lots of different ones. my eldest is allergic to penicillin to has different types given if needed. you have to get a firm and serious head on when going to see doc as some do not want to listen! or take an assertive friend or send your hubby!
good luck. oh, p.s. buy homeopathic teething powders, 'nelsons' or 'ashtons', very cheap from chemists and work absolute wonders! dont cause any side effects, and even work on fractious babies who are not teething but kust being irritable. very soothing, mine all loved them, and my toddler likes the taste so much she stands there with mouth open waiting for me to tip the powder on her tongue!!
