Most of the american shows, made in anime style sucks, there is no other word for it. However there is one exception. The show called The Avatar from Nickelodeon is a very good one, mostly because of the story. That's the reason I like anime and manga in the first place, because of the stories. This show by keeping an intriguing story , anime style is the reason is still on :)

Fortunately, there aren't any American manga or anime comics or cartoons. Manga and anime are all imports, and I wish they'd all go away. The stories are insipid, the titles and names are childish, the "action" is childish, the characters are immature, etc. None of it makes any sense whatsoever. Why does anyone like this stuff? I know that Akira was great, as was Ghost in the Shell, but these were top-notch Science Fiction stories with big budgets and good animation. Why do so many people think there is even a competition between American comics and manga/anime? It doesn't exist. American comics will be around for a long time, and manga/anime is a fad that will soon disappear. Remember Pokemon?

Well, I know that Marvel did a whole thing where they retold everything in their universe through Manga style. I didn't think it was that good. Disliked what they did to several of my favorite characters.

Don't know how popular it was. It was Marvel, though, so it was probably pretty popular.

Iron Giant was a hugely popular and well-done animated movie that was done in anime style.

Don't know if you're also asking about the American translations of Japanese anime here - I watch Inuyasha, and I am American... and I purposely set the DVDs to play in the original Japanese with English subtitles, because the English is just plain annoying, with all of the sound effects. I think there's just something about the way Japanese anime is Americanized that is just... irritating.

I don't know the really popular ones, but I think Peach Fuzz was American. It wasn't a good one, though. I have seen some fan manga, though, and most of it was extremely good, along with a manga called Solo Flame (actually European, I believe) which was so good that the guy who came up with the childrens show Yu-Gi-Oh bought it. I'm not sure if that helps at all...

Agree with first poster.
Anime and Manga are about 98% terrible.

Why don't you try reading some comics that don't look down on your intelligence.

That being said, I don't think the majority of superhero comics from marvel and DC are much better.

Most of the stuff from vertigo is excellent and doesn't treat you like a five year old.
