It could be anytime from now until due date. I had the same with all three of my pregnancies. I actually went up to 5cm dilated, but unless your water breaks or start full labor, its a waiting game. However, with my last pregnancy, I did something to make labor come faster. I was 5cm for a couple weeks and getting to the point of worrying about being home alone when labor started etc, so one afternoon I did some squats, just easy and slow, and only about 10 of them. About 2 hours later my water started leaking out, which meant I was having a baby. Upside was I knew I was having a baby that weekend, downside was, no labor started, which meant Pitocin... Well you get what I am saying. you can give it a try, but after trying to induce my labor I felt that by doing the squats I forced my son to come before it was really time. I suggest you just wait it out- Good Luck & congrats!!

WALK WALK WALK! Or take a loooonnngg ride in a car down a bumpy road. The more pressure on that cervix, the more you dilate. You can also so nipple stimulation. 5 minutes per nipple, alternating for 30 mintues. And last but not least...semen causes changes in the cervix. The same activity that got you into this can get you out. Good luck and congrads on the new baby!

It still depends. My sister in law was 4 cm and 50% effaced for weeks. Of course, her second labor went extremely quickly and she almost didn't make it to the hospital in time, so if you're thinking in the future "this may be it" don't wait!
Best to you!!

Dilation and effacement cannot predict how soon you'll give birth. You never know, but since you're almost 40 weeks, I would say you'll be holding your second baby very soon! Congratulations and Good Luck!

It can happen anyday now honestly. Every pregnancy is different but I would think it would happen soon, you do still have two days left.
