This is perfectly normal, I'd say it happens to all of us.

Just before and during your period, your body may tend to retain water. This added fluid might make you feel fat or make your breasts feel tender. Actually, it's normal to gain a couple of pounds during this time of the month -- and lose them right after your period. If you feel bloated, you may feel better wearing loose, comfortable clothing. Avoiding salt immediately before and during your period is also a good idea; salt increases water retention.

You are not the only one...lol
It makes every woman to retain water.
The sudden rise of hormones causes your blood pressure rise and as a result, swelling, in belly, legs, head...
When I had my periods, that swelling on my brain caused me headaches so extreme, that I would vomit.
Perhaps, gentle, natural, herbal water pill (Uva Ursis, for one)is the answer to your problem

that time of the month makes you bloated because your body retains water to accomdate the lose of fluids due to having your period. when you have your period you loose a lot of body fluid, so right before your body stores all that fluid to make sure you don't dehydrate. you should also drink lots of water this time of the month.

it's just your hormones, it's a women thing. Your hormones are up the creek when you have your period, it will settle after your period finishes.
