If the test was negative, you are not pregnant. I am assuming it was a blood test?? If so, know that these tests are pretty fool-proof, reliable and valid. An abortion will undoubtedly alter your menses. Be patient as your body tries to restore itself. See your doctor again soon, even if just to ease your existing worries and concerns. Sometimes you will feel 100% *better* just having things confirmed; sometimes, that's enough to take away the worry and concern.
Try to have confidence in your most recent test, give it time and schedule another appointment for a couple weeks time. Worrying never helps and stress can actually effect menstruation. Easier said than done, I know :-). But, hang in there, try to do something extra, that you wouldn't normally do for yourself, to help ease your worries. A massage, pedicure??
I am so, so sorry for my fellow judgemental, NARCISSISTIC, NARROW-MINDED human beings, like the user "Someone" and others. Gadd, I can almost feel your pain after reading their nonsense. Kind of defeats the purpose of this forum, doesn't it?? Some people are just not able to fathom the VERY individual circumstances that lead to the propriety of the decision to abort a fetus.

I have some information for you. First & foremost please give additional information on how far along you were...
Are you 100% sure without a doubt that you were pregnant??? I ask this because, I have a friend who was given a positive result for her pregnancy test. She was only 15 at the time and did not want to have a baby. She decided to have an abortion & when she called to make the appointment, the abortion clinic told her that she would have to be 7 weeks along before they would do the abortion because they have to make sure she was pregnant. She made the appointment but she went to a pregnancy problem center a few days before her appointment & she was given another pregnancy test, the test did not show up with a bright color it was like a faded red so they sent her to her gynecologist and he performed a pelvic exam and told her that she was no longer than about 5 weeks. However, she went to her scheduled appointment, with her 1st morning urine sample (they have to check to make sure even though the doctor gives a positive result). After the procedure, she told me that the nurse told her she would stay in recovery for an hour and that she would soak up at least 2 or 3 pads during that hours time. However, she only had a spot the size of a quarter on the first pad. The nurse told her that that was not normal, she should be bleeding like a woman who had a baby. She did not bleed, she went for her 3 week checkup and they asked her if she had stopped bleeding and she said she never did start bleeding. Anyways, to make a long story short, after several test given by her gynecologist (after the abortion) the doctor found evidence that she was never pregnant and that was the reason why she did not bleed. He said that some abortion clinics are out for the money and after they collect the money even if the urine test says negative, they will still perform the procedure just to keep the money. That was 20 years ago and I pray that has not happened to you. God Bless. If you want to email me or message me feel free to. I allow both.

It is possible that when you had the abortion it did not fully expel the baby from your womb. I just had a medical abortion using the drugs Mifeprex and Misoprostol. I am also skeptical but the main thing is to make sure the pregnancy test was negative. If you do not have pregnancy hormones showing up in the test then you are most likely NOT pregnant. Your weight is due to water and probably the weight you gained naturally by becoming pregnant. After you have the abortion it could take up to eight weeks to have your period again. That's COMPLETELY normal. Are your breasts still tender? Do you still have to urinate frequently? Are there symptoms that aren't going away other than weight gain? Did you have an ultrasound when you went back for your follow up appointment at Planned Parenthood or your abortion provider? Make sure you have that done, that is the only way that you can completely know whether or not your baby has expeled itself from your body. Hope all goes well!

Well, having an abortion is a huge shock to your body. Your body goes into "baby mode" and then, suddenly, it says, "Where is the baby?" Sometimes your period may not come back for a few months depending on how far along you were. It takes a little time for the body's hormones and such to return to normal after such a strain. Plus, abortions cause blood loss. Just think--if you watched at all--of all of the blood and body fluid that got sucked out. Then again, sometimes abortions cause sterility accompanied by no periods or yield a uterine disease. If it doesn't start soon, see a doctor.

Abdominal bloating is normal after having a surgical abortion. Don't pay any attention to those here who have berated you for having an abortion. I've been where you are and it's a personal decision. If I could turn back the hands of time, I'd do it again. It was for the best! I am now happily married and the mother of three beautiful children.

I am sorry you had to have an abortion--what kind did you have? How far along were you? You have to realize you were preg--and your body was going through tremendous hormonal changes. Just as if you carried the baby it takes time for your body to go back. Did you take the pill or do the surgical? If you took the pill--it will take time to recover--a few months at least as you introduced a massive amount of hormones into your body.
How are you emotionally? That will be the longterm hardship.
You can email me anytime to discuss it. mmw1586@yahoo.com
I never would judge anyone and don't listen to anyone who does. It I am sure was the hardest decision you ever had to make.

You really CAN miss periods just from anxiety - that could be what has happened to you. Of course, if you had sex again AFTER the abortion, you could be pregnant AGAIN.
You may need some exercise to get your belly flat, but if they said at the clinic that that you are fine, then you probably are.

FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!
NO ONE HERE SHOULD BE JUDGING YOU ON YOUR DECISION TO TERMINATE YOUR PREGNANCY!!! IT WAS YOUR DECISION THAT YOU, NOT THEM, HAVE TO LIVE WITH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!
How far along were you when you had your abortion? I know you must have had your period right after the procedure, right? So, about 28-30 days after your abortion, you should start your period. If, you had unprotected sex between your abortion and now, you may be pregnant again.

If you've been for a follow up and they said no, then no, you're not still pregnant.
I don't think it's possible for it to have not worked.
You're body is probably just alittle out of sync now. Give it some more time
