Honestly, Che Guevera helped prolong the poverty of the Cuban people for an indefinite time. Because of Fidel Castro and Che Guevera, the Cuban people have lived in absolute squalor for the last fifty seven years. In a democracy, Castro would have been dog crap after the next election, following the start of his communist dictatorship.

This is one more accomplishment that can be placed in the archives under Kennedy achievements !

No, not at all. Cuba was under the opressive reigime of Batista. Communism has done much for Cubans; they are better off than most Caribbeanans. If it weren't for the revolutionaries, they'd probably still be living in poverty under the heel of some dictator, like in Haiti. Cuba might not be democratic, but Castro isn't a tyrant.

Well, yeah. I mean, Che was pretty much a vicious mass murderer. That's pretty horrific, no matter what your ideology.

In his case, I think he was also a very misled revolutionary, because Communism has proven to be pretty disastrous everywhere it's been tried. Do you really think Cuba today is better that it would have been if it was a free country?

Supporting people's rights is a wonderful thing, but that doesn't have anything to do with Communism or Che.

I think Che was ideologically committed to a lost cause.
How on earth did he expect Bolivian farmers to rally to his cause? I don't know if Marxism or being a revolutionary is sellable today or even back then.

I don't think what he fought for was wrong. He just went about it stupidly, thinking that just "fighting" and being righteous about it would be enough. Castro was a politician. And Castro won.

The lesson here is that you can succeed no matter what your goal is, or what you are fighting. You just have to play people correctly, not be the best fighter.
