I would topsy-tail it. Here's how:

First, pull her hair into a low ponytail (about an inch below where the top of her ears would be). Secure it with an elastic band (Not too tight).

Now slide your thumb up the back of her head until your thumb is sticking out of her hair underneith the elastic band. Your thumb has now created a "hole." Separate the hair to make a bigger hole and then bring up the long part of the ponytail and push it through the hole.
