my girlfriend just went to the doctors because shes been having headaches and has been tired lately, ive posted this before but basically i was scared she might have been pregnant, she also took 2 day after pills within a week 1/2 because we were unprotected and scared, but she still hasnt gotten her period and says its the 2 pills she took and stress...and then she went to the doctor this morning, and the doctor made her urinate in a cup, and she said she has a urinary tract infection and bad sinuses and he gave her something and said shed feel better in a few days...do the urine tests detect pregnancy?? she has taken two home pregnancy tests in the morning in a 3 weeks period and they both said negative, and she says shes not...but im scared cuz she hasnt gotten her period and the whole headaches thing freaked me out...so im guessing i was just paranoid, and shes not pregnant, and it was the urinary tract infection??

On a lower note, the day after pill is only good for 48 hrs. after sex. Drs. test usually can detect it. Unless she didn't say anything to them. If she has taken test over a 3 week period of time changes are pretty good its a negative. She may be getting headaches and not starting her period because of stress. Also is she eating? Low nutrition can make you stop your period. Tell her to have a really good work out, and then take a really hot bath. This might help.

Either way if she took the day after pill morning after pill whatever you want to call it than it should make bleeding start. My sister took the morning after pill and had severe bleeding. Urine tests for pregnancy do find the pregnancy hormone only if there is enough hormone present. A blood test is more accurate and can detect pregnancy much much earlier.
If the urine is cloudy or bloody than she could have a UTI but you shouldn't assume anything until you have had a test done by a doctor.
Urine tests, blood tests only show things the are looking for unless by chance the medical lab technician sees something else that catches their eye.
Good Luck!

Unless she told the doctor she suspected pregnancy and he used a pregnancy test on her, then no, the standard urine test isn't going to show pregnancy or not. It sounds like he tested her for a UTI. He'd have to specifically test for pregnancy. But honestly I don't think she is. By the way, the morning after pill is not a form of birth control. It is to be used in emergency situations. She screwed up her own system by taking those two pills within two weeks. Get on real birth control and use a condom. Best of luck.

The dr. would only test for pregnancy if they thought that pregnancy were a concern. It's not an 'automatic' test... in fact, they do the same type of test that home pregnancy tests are!
If your girlfriend has tested several times and they've shown negative, then she is probably not pregnant. Word of advice- don't have unprotected sex anymore unless you both are ready to be parents.

The tests that doctor uses to detect pregnancy is a Home pregnancy test, just like the one you use at home. They just dip it in the urine that she provided. If she's taken that many pregnancy tests and they all came out negative, then she is not pregnant. Listen to her doctor and if you don't want a baby, then don't have unprotected sex!

If the test for pregnancy is requested in the urine analysis , it will most certainly detect whether the woman in question is pregnant or not.

A urine preg. test usually detects the HCG anywhere from 4-6 weeks after conception......A blood test is your best bet.Yet it could also be stress the reason she has not received her period.

Urine tests only detect the things they are testing for, it will only detect pregnancy if they tested for pregnancy.

I think they need to test it specifically for pregnancy; otherwise they might not be looking for it/see it. She should ask her doc if this is something they tested for.
