I got an excise tax bill for my car and it's due April 4. I will not be able to pay it until the day it's due. Do you think there will be any repercussions? Or, will it be ok if the date on the check is April 4? They should receive it within a day or two...

As long as it's postmarked by the due date you'll be OK. Or you could just take it to the city or town hall and pay at the counter. The date on the check is meaningless.

See if you can pay online or by phone. If you have the money that day, then make a point of going to City Hall and paying in person so it's still effective for that day. (I don't know if every city has this option, but I know some do.) Even if it's just a few days, they can charge you interest or late fees. Excise tax is a pain, but it's the law!
