she also claims that she's been having these experiences for years but has not mentioned it to anyone because she knows that people will think she's nuts

Demons, they can appear as anything, and they disappear when the light is turned on, they hate light. Hence the nightlight. Some people have a talent and can see angels, but that means you can see demons as well. If a house is haunted or someone else int he house has welcomed demons into a home, the person who is a christian or who has a talent for sensing demons, will have a very restless night.

We see apparitions, we don't have them. She is sensitive to the spirit world. As a nurse, I have seen people who are weeks to months close to death that start seeing appartitions of loved ones who have passed on. This doesn't mean she is about to die though. Perhaps, somone on the other side has something they're trying to communicate to her.

It happened to my mum when she was ill. Obviously these things are artefacts of the mind.

yes it could he her age
or it could be whats called hypnagogic imagery ... which often accompanies sleep paralysis
its a pretty harmless sleep problem but can be quite frightening

or it could be in my opinion , she is needing the love and healing of spirit
