For dial-up Internet service, you will need a wired phone line (land line), and your computer. The computer should already have the modem built-in. If you can see a place on the back of the computer where you can plug-in a phone line (RJ Jack), then you have a modem. Next you'll need an Internet Service Provider who can get you online. Obiviously, you have an Internet connection or using an Internet from some where to post this question. If you are looking for a dial-up service, personally I would stay as far away as possible from AOL. You'll have nothing but problems with them. I would recommend a service that I use. I have nothing but positive experience with them. Check them out at www.speedqwest.com
