If spinning icons make programs run then i've gotta find some of those icons. Anyway, go into your control panel, and using add/remove programs, you can uninstall american online explorer. If it's not listed, because is fairly new, then you may need to reinstall AOL. If things are taking a while to load, it could have to do with the age of your computer and the speed of your internet. a slow computer + dialup internet = slow, well slow anyway you look at it.

I didn't understood well, but I will give you some suggestions maybe that will help but before that, you better change your Operating System (which is Windows 98 now) and maybe your computer thats really old
Windows 98 has very bad security so you may have many spywares and trojans and even viruses on your computer they can cause many problems specially the problems which you can't find any reasons for them to happen, so installing an Antivirus and Antispyware would be good and you can look for a free one if you don't want to pay and I don't know if you can find something for Win98 or not
About deleting the programs that you don't need, you can go to "My computer > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs" then you will see a list of programs installed on your computer, you can choose the one you want to remove and click on "Remove" button and follow the onscreen instructions.

Humm windows 98 it's self has alot of problems to begin with! Myself I would run a scan for any nasty trojens or worms.I been using Avast for over 4 years keeping a small network clean.http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html Next I would scan for any spyware for this I use Ad-ware5.83http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=adaware Hopefully this will fix whats happening. If not then maybe you should try to update your browser. FireFox is a really nice browser to use and is more secure.http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ hope this helps none of it will do any harm. Good luck to ya! many things can go wrong with puters most cases it's caused from something picked up.{wink}
