Destin is simply BEAUTIFUL! I lived there for 2 yrs when my husband was in the Air Force. The sand is pure white and fluffy. As for shelling... Not so good. There really aren't any shells there worth picking. Alot of pretty sand dunes to climb tho ( shhh ~ you'll have to hop the fence to do that tho! )
If you want a beautiful, exclusive beach to visit sometime go to Sanibel Island Beach in Central Fla... Its the best shelling in Fla!! You can find them on their Chamber of commerce website..

Yes the beaches are great, it isn't the best place in Florida to collect shells though. The weather has been great this week, hopefully it will be nice for you

Destin has great beaches...I don't know about sea shells, not too many of them....but the beaches are great, white, sandy, clean.....
