my roots are dark brown and i always have issues even int the salon of them becoming brassy/orange any color/volume suggestions?

Ideally you should go to a salon but if you want to do it at home, use a highlight kit but skip using the cap. If your hair is long you'll need two kits. Put the solution all over your root areas first, then follow with the rest of your hair. The color will start out dark orange, then straw colored. If you wait longer, the lighter your roots and hair will be. Be sure to use a good conditioner afterward since the chemicals are bleach based and will dry it out and lead to hair breakage. Hi, I have this same problem and the only way I can get the lighter shades of blonde is to use 40 volume peroxide. I would have it done professionlly, unless you know what you are doing. Good luck !

Matrix has a Hi-lift series that is especiallly for root touch ups..You would probably need the PA series. Pale-Ash with 40 vol...Ask for it at a salon who uses matrix....Dont use bleach or color from the store....Get it done by professional...
