In America each state pays a sales tax on anything that they buy. What really gets me angry is paying an "Inheritance tax" :( If a family member dies and wills you an inheritance- money - or you collect from a life insurance policy - if the amount of money you inherit exceeds "X" amount of dollars, the government taxes it). They took 60% inheritance taxes out of my grandfather's estate when he died! He had worked hard and saved his money (by going without things he, himself, wanted or needed, in order to leave his family an inheritance when he passed on) working hard and saving, throughout all of his life - and died at the age of 98. And there was not much left after the government got through taxing his estate. The government took 60% in taxes out of everything he owned! :(

Yep, it happens every where. and you pay the sales tax. If the did'nt separate the buying price from the sales tax then the tax would be built into the sales price and making the vendor unaccountable for paying your tax to the Government. Would you believe the Australian Government is considering introducing rain water tax if you own a rain water tank, which many of us do now because of the drought? Taxes suk. But we need hospitals, schools, police, road repairs, military, prisons, welfare, etc etc etc.

the sales tax is directly applied to the consumer, but whether it is applied to the consumer or producer the price you pay for the item will end up being the same.
