My struts are practically dead and I need to get them replaced. The places I am going to are telling me that it is going to cost about 600 - $650. Is this a little inflated? I feel like it should be a lot less than that.

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT 2.0L

Let me know what you think, thanks.

not knowing the labor price that the shop you went to we usually charge 3 hours for both front struts so that puts you at 150 to around 225 or so on labor then add the alignment at 89.95 the price of struts can run you between 75 and 150 a side and remember that pretty much all shops get parts at a lower price than over the counter but mark the price up to make money on the parts so they will probably be higher in price than if you went and got them yourself. so a price around 600 is probably around average. sometimes you can get struts replaced at places like midas and sears for alot less then at a independant shop. hope that helps

labor is'nt cheap. you want to get paid for the hours you put in doing your job don't you?.tools aren't cheap either.if you have the time struts are not too hard to change, except compressing the spring, unless you don't need your head attached to your body anymore.getting the drift yet? check your local parts stores some of them can compress the spring and change the strut for you if you can remove them yourself.this will reduce the cost, just remember to check the top nut that holds the strut assembly together, this is the large one in the center of the bearing plate.CHECK FOR TIGHTNESS ONLY AFTER REINSTALLING STRUT,ALL NUTS AND BOLTS YOU REMOVED AND THE WHEEL INSTALLED AND SITTING ON THE GROUND.not too hard is it?? good luck and have fun or suck it up and pay the price.by the way $500-$600 is about the norm for premium struts installed on all 4 corners.

Go to a parts house and price the struts. Labor for a certified mech. is a bit spendy. Go to a large chain repair shop and then a smaller local shop and see how they differ in price?

I'm guessing that tire shops like NTB and Sears Auto Center have the lowest prices for struts. Check a few tire shops.

That sounds really high for struts. Check around and see what they are asking for at Midas or similar shops. Dealership prices are a little too high.

you said struts, so i take it that it is the two front struts. if so, shop around, if you are a woman, take a guy with you. they cantake advantage of women. to me, thats a bit high.

That's about the price we were quoted last year on my 1995 Chrysler LeBaron. It may be about fifty dollars less, if you can wait and shop around.
