At this point in time, I would definitely say yes! However, how would my thinking change if they had won the war? Would it be the Allies who would be the condemned? Alternate endings can be a mind bender

I have a hard time with "evil". No one ever goes around saying they're evil, unless they hate themselves. Evil is often a matter of perspective. Of course, no one likes that idea, because they think it means we can't oppose something without it being branded evil.
Anyway, yes, the Nazis did a lot of things that were destructive to their societies and to numerous groups of people, and if we have a reason to want to protect those groups of people, for example simply because they are people like us, or for whatever other reason, then yes, they did very negative things.
If there is "evil" in the Nazis, then the real evil was contained in a few people. The rest of the people involved were probably not themselves evil, but let evil rule their actions. And many may not have known the extent of what was going on.
I disagree strongly with what they did, and I disagree strongly with what modern-day so-called nazis believe, but I'm not comfortable bandying around the word "evil" like so many people are, because it is a subjective, not an objective, term. Most "evil" is just either misguidance, ignorance, or complacency.

Not sure I'd call THEM an example of great evil. I think when people have nothing to live for, they can easily be recruited to do almost anything. If Germany had rebounded economically after WWI, I don't think you'd have so many Nazi recruits. I think history's repeating itself with Taliban/Extreme Islamist recruits today. If those people had good jobs, women, and stability in life, I don't think they'd be one bit enticed to join.
So basically, I see them as pawns. They're all a part of the ultimate plan by you guessed it, the Creator, so I tend to separate the clay from the potter. I'd call the plot to kill people because of their race evil, but not necessarily the guy who pulls the trigger. It is much like guaranteeing you would never steal food if you were starving, never having been in the situation. And worse, calling the person who steals food an evil person.

I sure do. They treated Jewish people like they were less than human, like they were animals. Trying to kill off an ENTIRE race...
That's evil in it's finest.
