The man not the Spike Lee abomination movie. I will submit to you that he should be more respected by whites than Dr. King for two reasons: 1) Who wouldn't have been radical if an organized group killed your father for his race, simply for preaching a return to Africa. 2) In the end he parted with the NOI but held onto his nationalist beliefs. nationalism= good for everybody.

Jackie Robinson didn't like him so you don't like him? Joe Louis didn't like Muhammad Ali but I like Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis.

I wouldn't think so but figure it would be as likely as Black Klu Klux Klan members...incidently, I think nationalism is not a very good thing.

I respect the man for what he accomplished, if not his early methods/beliefs. Given all the crap he went through, his early hatred for whites was understandable. By the end of his life he'd embraced a more peaceful, rational approach, and I think it's a crying shame he was killed as he was, when there was so much more good he could have accomplished.
I had the opportunity once to speak with Herman Blake, who interviewed Malcolm X at Berkeley in the early 60s. He became a friend to Malcolm, and described a fiercely intelligent, driven man. He sounded like a fascinating person to know.

Dr. King had to end segregation so as that the country might want to bypass ahead; he believed in peace, progression, forgiveness, and brotherhood. He replaced right into a Lutheran minister, and he preached everywhere in the country about the price of anybody, black or white or the different color. Malcolm X needed revenge. He believed in segregation, easily; the purpose of his united states of Islam circulation replaced into to inspire black human beings to develop into Muslim, the religion of maximum folk in Africa, and abandon Christianity in the journey that they were Christian (because slaveholders compelled Christianity on their African slaves, and Malcolm X felt that Islam replaced into truer to their African roots); he replaced into as racist as any white individual, and needed African human beings to retaliate adverse to their oppressors, making use of violence if mandatory. His circulation received a lot of help. Then he made the hajj, the adventure or pilgrimage to the Muslim holy city of Mecca, that's anticipated of all Muslims. at the same time as he replaced into in Mecca, he experienced the affection, attractiveness, and brotherhood of "real" Islam, and at the same time as he back to the U. S. he denounced his own campaign for the "united states of Islam." in the accurate, he got here to share Dr. King's beliefs of interracial cooperation, mutual information, and team spirit. i am hoping this helped.

I never saw the movie and I don't know much about him. But... Jackie Robinson is a hero of mine for the way he went about fighting the racism around him. I read his autobiography and he was not a big fan of Malcolm X's methods. So my reason for not liking him is because Jackie didn't, and I respect his opinion. When you don't know enuf to make your own decision, you have to rely on the opinions of those you respect until you can look into it for yourself.

I'm not white but love Malcolm X. And, (mother of all shocks), I like him for the reasons you mention.
